Gel nail polish is an acrylic liquid nail colour that hardens under UV or LED. It goes on like regular enamel nail polish but looks like an acrylic manicure and lasts for up to two weeks. They are simple to apply and so are suitable for use both at home or in the salon. Generally you will need a basecoat followed by a colour coat followed by a top coat.

Before using nail gels you will also need a UV or an LED lamp, cleanser, lint free wipes and nail gel remover.

Lamps

A wide range of lamps are available in the marketplace. Generally the UV lamps are less expensive than the LED but are slower to harden the colour. LED lights are fast more energy efficient (use less power) and have greater bulb life.
